Visit the legendary Cave of Milodon, where the remains of an extinct prehistoric mammal were found. We will then continue along the Patagonian plains, passing through the grounds of cattle ranches. Once at the national park, you can admire the Sarmiento, Nordenskjold, and Pehoe Lakes, as well that the Grande and Chico Cascades of the Paine River. You can also visit Lake Grey with its huge ice floes from the Grey Glacier.

Boat ride through the Ultima Esperanza Sound, where you will enjoy a landscape full of flora and fauna. After three hours, you will near the Balmaceda and Serrano Glaciers, from where enormous chunks of ice fall. Boat ride back to Puerto Natales.

We will take you through the main city streets, first stopping at a lookout point from which you can see a spectacular view of the city and the Magellan Strait.
We will then visit the Salesiano Regional Museum, where there is an interesting exhibition of the area’s ethnography and anthropology, as well as an exhibition of the area’s native flora and fauna. We will then stop by the Institute of Patagonia, where you will learn about the development of the region.
The tour finalizes at the tree-lined Plaza Munoz Gamero in the center of the city. Here there is a splendid bronze sculpture honoring Hernando de Magallanes.

We will travel to Fort Bulnes, located about 60 km to the south of Puntas Arenas. It was constructed in 1843 to strengthen the presence of Chile in the Magellan Strait. Here there is a reconstruction of the original fortress - with its church, jail, post office, and stables. On the way back to Punta Arenas, we will stop at the ruins of the city of Rey Felipe, located in Puerto de Hambre.

EXCURSION TO THE PENGUIN COLONIES OF THE PECKETT MINE |

We will travel to the penguin colony at Otway Sound, about 65 km to the north of Punta Arenas. Here there is a colony of almost 8,000 Magellanic penguins which reside in this area from September to March. This reserve is next to the Peckett Mine; here carboniferous layers of land (considered to be among the largest in the world) are mined in the open.

NAVIGATION TO MAGADALENA ISLAND |

At the Tres Puentes terminal, you will board the ferry and travel to Magdalena Island via the Magellan Strait. This protected wildlife area was declared a national park and reclassified as a nature monument in 1982. This island protects the bird fauna of the area, such as the one of the largest penguin colonies in the area. Here you can disembark and observe the bird fauna.
